Summer 2017 Wedding Trends
Posted by: Wrenbury Hall | Mar 31, 2017
We think it’s safe to say spring has arrived… finally! We look forward to spring here at Wrenbury Hall every year, not only because we love the sun shining through our window (even if it does only happen once in a blue moon!) and the lighter evenings, but because it means our favourite season is fast approaching… wedding season!
According to research carried out by The Wedding Secret, May to September is by far the most popular time for couples to tie the knot in the UK, with over 60% of wedding ceremonies taking place across these five months. We know first-hand how popular weddings are during summer, as well as how tricky it can be to predict what will be ‘in’ when you say ‘I do’, which is why we’ve got you covered with the definitive list of this year’s summer wedding trends.
Pick a palette:
Think rose gold is so 2016? Think again! Rose gold and metallics are still on trend this year, along with pastel colours and we don’t think they’ll be going anywhere anytime soon. Baby blues, mint greens, pale pinks, peaches and corals will be everywhere this summer.
What to wear:
This season, plunging necklines, oversized bows and floral embroidery are top of the list when it comes to dresses to walk down the aisle in and the off-the-shoulder trend seen all over the catwalk at the moment hasn’t avoided bridal boutiques either.
Black suits are timeless for groomsmen, but why not try mixing it up with an alternative waistcoat? If you’d prefer to opt for a navy suit, stay on trend by going for a skinnier fit and style, with tan loafers or moccasins, perfect for the summer season.
We haven’t forgotten about the bridesmaids either! Gone are the days when each bridesmaid wears exactly the same dress, instead it’s all about mix ‘n’ match. Whether that’s mixing different colour tones in the same dress, mixing different dresses in the same colour tone or both!
Fallen for foliage:
Inspired by the great outdoors and all things natural, Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017 is ‘Greenery’ and its influence is being seen across the wedding industry. When it comes to choosing the best bouquet, brides are falling for foliage this season, opting for fresh greens, ivy and ferns.
You can have your cake and eat it:
Move over 'naked cakes', 2017 is the year of beaded and marble effect cakes. Whereas last season was all about minimalism, this season we’re seeing a huge shift towards heavily decorated and detailed styles.
